Divorce
We represent clients in all
aspects and legal issues of
dissolving their marriage.
Child
Custody
This is now called Parental
Responsibilities and is part of
the Parenting Plan required for
clients with children. This
issue addresses the issue of the
parents having either sole or
joint decision making over
important parental
responsibilities.
Parenting Coordination
A Parenting Coordinator can stay
on a case after the divorce is
over, to assist the parties in
working through conflicts to
come to some agreements without
having to go back to court. We
provide this service.
Adoption
Adoption almost exclusively
occurs through the Department of
Social Services in Colorado.
However, private adoption is
allowed in Colorado under
limited circumstances. We offer
services for stepparent, kinship
and custodial adoptions.

Child
Support
Child support is an ongoing
issue for families even after
the divorce is over. Colorado
has Child Support Guidelines
that must be used to calculate
child support. The court retains
jurisdiction over this issue
until the children emancipate,
which is usually at 19 years of
age. We offer services to set
child support during the
divorce, modify child support as
finances change, and collect
child support that is overdue.
Spousal Maintenance
This issue is about the support
of one of the spouses during and
after the divorce. In Colorado
there is a statute that covers
temporary support under limited
circumstances. We offer services
to address the issue of spousal
maintenance for both the payor
and payee, whether that is in
the initial divorce,
modifications after the divorce,
or actions to collect
outstanding support.
Pre-Marital Agreements
Colorado has a statute that
addresses agreements for parties
who want to reach agreements on
their affairs before they get
married. We offer services to
clients in either drafting or
reviewing pre-marital
agreements.
Post Decree Modifications
The court retains jurisdiction
over many issues after the
divorce. The court can hear
motions to change court orders
or to enforce previous court
orders. We offer services to
clients on all post decree
matters.

Dependency and Neglect
Dependency and Neglect cases are
cases in which there are
concerns about child protection.
The Department of Social
Services can proceed against
parties in cases in which they
believe there is harm to a
child. We offer services for
parents, grandparents and other
interested parties in these
types of cases.
Annulments
Colorado does recognize the
issue of Invalidity of Marriages
under some circumstances. We
offer services to clients in
this area of law.
Property Settlements
Property Settlements are one of
the biggest components of a
divorce. Property settlements
address the division and
allocation of all sorts of
property, from real estate,
financial assets, cars and
furniture to debts and loans.
Paternity
Colorado recognizes the issue of
paternity. Paternity can be
established for children outside
the context of marriage. We
offer services in this area of
law.
Special Representative
Special Representatives are
lawyers appointed by the court
to represent children in
divorce, custody or paternity
cases. This person acts as the
lawyer for the child,
representing his or her best
interests and wishes to the
court. We provide these
services.
CFI – Child and Family
Investigator
CFIs are appointed by the court
to investigate a domestic case
having child related issues and
submit recommendations to the
court, on the best interests of
the children. Recommendations
may address parenting time,
parental responsibilities,
payment for child related
expenses, holidays, vacations,
and all other issues that may
affect the children. CFI’s can
be mental health professionals
or lawyers. CFIs work directly
for the court although the
parties generally are
responsible for the CFI fees. We
provide these services.
